What to expect.

During your initial visit, we will review your chief complaint(s) as well as your detailed health history.  This gives us an understanding of the underlying mechanisms that may be contributing to your main complaint and overall health.  We will evaluate your pulse and take a look at your tongue.  These are important diagnostic tools to give us an overview of how your bodily systems are functioning and perhaps contributing to underlying imbalances.  We will discuss your health goals and revisit these during future appointments so that we can assess progress. Acupuncture treatment will then be rendered, activating specific points on the body with single use, sterile needles.  Patients often report deep relaxation, potentially drifting in and out of sleep or a dream-like state.  When needles are inserted,

various sensations are often felt, for example, warmth, radiating, throbbing, or a slight pinch.  I  will be present and work with you to maintain comfort and safety.  Other potential treatments include Chinese medical bodywork, light touch, or further stimulation of acupuncture points.

As Chinese medicine is a complete system of health care, dietary and lifestyle shifts are important to deepen and extend the reaches of healing outside of individual acupuncture sessions.  As we work together, we will explore dietary recommendations geared specifically towards your individual needs.  With access to a full herbal apothecary, formulas or tinctures can be dispensed for continuation and deepening of care.
